You will be driven from the hotel to Marangu gate, where you will register. After that, you'll start your trip through the jungle to the Mandara lodge. You will get the chance to see Maundi Crater here as an opportunity for acclimatisation. Overnight at Mandara Hut, followed by dinner.

Moorland habitat
Following breakfast, you will ascend the rainforest and continue your ascent to Horombo Hut, where you will travel across undulating moorlands and catch your first glimpse of the majestic Kilimanjaro. Dinner and an overnight stay are provided at Horombo Hut.
(this day is omitted if choosing a 5-day itinerary). During the 6-day schedule, add an extra day here in Horombo to allow for acclimatisation. To help your body acclimatise to the greater altitude, you will hike to Mawenzi Ridge or Zebra Rock on this day. You will return to Horombo Hut for lunch, rest till supper, and spend the night there following this session.

Desert as a habitat
After getting a full night's sleep and a filling breakfast, you'll hike beyond the last water source to the saddle area, a beautiful desert between the two peaks Mawenzi and Kibo. a night in Kibo hut with an early dinner.

At midnight, have a quick breakfast before getting ready to climb the summit. You must have your headlamps or flashlights because you will be ascending to the summit at night. Additionally, it will be really chilly until you begin to descend, so make sure you are wearing all of your thick clothing. Keep moving gently and steadily during this crucial period (pole pole in Swahili). The objective is to ascend before sunrise in order to arrive at Uhuru Peak just before or after sunrise. Between 4 and 6 AM, make a switchback up a steep scree slope, or potentially snow, to reach Gilman's Point on the crater rim at 5,861 m/18,640 ft. You will be facing the storied crater and its icecaps at this point. Then, after two hours of hiking along the Kibo crater rim near the famed snow, you will reach Uhuru Peak, the actual top of Kilimanjaro, where you can snap some pictures. After snapping pictures from the summit and admiring the scenery, return to the Kibo Huts, have lunch, take a break, gather your gear, and then continue on your way down via the saddle to the Horombo Huts. Eat dinner there and spend the night.

After eating your lunch, you will make your triumphant descent through a lovely woodland to the Marangu Park gate.
